This Week In The AL Central: Tigers Face Tough Stretch

The Detroit Tigers have been the early feel good story of the 2006 baseballseason, but the most obvious questions persist, as with any team that’s been out of the limelight for years and years

First off, are they for real?

Second, can they keep this up for 162 games?

We’re about to find out – and soon.

The Tigers have started one of their most critical stretches of the season, playing 13 games against the Yankees, Red Sox, White Sox and Blue Jays, four teams who seem certain to be battling for division titles or wild card spots with the Tigers all season.

With this critical stretch ahead, the Tigers have suddenly stopped hitting. Randy Johnson and the Yankees shut them out 4-0 Monday, and they were blanked in Cleveland on Sunday as well. With this important juncture ahead, Manager Jim Leyland knows his ball club needs to start hitting, but he isn’t panicking.

“Every time you don’t score doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong,” Leyland said. Sometimes you’ve got to credit the other team. It’s normally a combination of just missinga couple of pitches and looking for something (from the pitcher) and getting something else. We’ll be

Holidays On Horseback

Whether you are a thrill-seeking daredevil or a committed Happy Hacker, there is sure to be a riding holiday to suit you .

The choice of country and terrain is enormous and you can opt for a blissful week of escape from the family in beautiful and unspoilt surroundings. Alternatively, make it a family treat even if some of the clan are totally non-horsey.

The first thing to consider with any riding holiday is your true level of riding ability and stamina. A weekend-only novice will be neither safe nor happy on a mad three day gallop across Botswana. Similarly, a week trekking with beginners at walk will not appeal to experienced jockeys. The large number of riding holiday providers generally accept the following as sensible summaries of riding ability;-

Beginner: A rider with very limited experience, is unable to mount and dismount unassisted, and unable to post to the trot or canter.

Novice: A rider who has some riding experience, is able to mount and dismount unassisted, is in control of a well-behaved horse and confident for short periods of rising trot and canter.

Intermediate: A rider with all of the novice skills, has a firm seat, is

About Chinese Diet Teas: Are They Safe?

Chinese teas have long been considered great for dieters. In fact, many companies have manufactured and distributed these products labeled Chinese diet tea for those who wish to lose weight. Perhaps the main reason for this production is that many believed that tea by itself carries only 4 calories per serving, and the caffeine in tea is potent enough to increase body function to help burn more calories. Also, it is believed that the polyphenols in tea seem to aid in the digestion of fat, truly making it a Chinese diet tea.

Chinese diet tea, fasting tea, slimming tea, super dieters tea, weight loss tea, although they come with somewhat different names, all promote a common message drink this tea and you will lose weight. However, many experts noted that what you are actually drinking from these products is a plant based laxative that can cause certain disorders like diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, fainting, chronic constipation and perhaps even death when consumed in excessive amounts.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) once stressed that the laxative teas and dietary supplements of most concern are those containing one or more of the substances, such as aloe, senna,

Desiree, 34, a freelance interior decorator and a Martha Stewart fanatic, goes on a trip every holiday season to visit her parents in Bedford, Indiana. She usually arrives a week before Christmas Eve. Holidays were supposed to be happy events, but not for Desiree. She dreaded the holiday season which means she has to face the questions again from her own parents and relatives. Family reunions makes her feel so uncomfortable because everyone from her teenage niece to an assortment of cousins are already taken. That time of the year, she always found herself on the spot for being the only single person in family.

Visit A Department Store And Be Amazed

I love to shop as much as most of the women I know. I enjoy nothing more than an afternoon or a weekend with nothing on the agenda other than to shop. However, as all busy people know, life rarely provides such a time. More often than not my shopping happens in small segments of time in between other errands and responsibilities. In the past few years, shopping at a department store has become my best friend for this very reason.

I love going to a department store especially when I am in a hurry because I can pick up almost anything I need in one stop. Whether I am looking for clothing, shoes, jewlery, makeup, or something for my home, the department store usually has just what I need. It is much easier for me to shop in one place that I know provides a variety of great products. There is nothing better than entering a department store and then leaving it an hour later with my entire list accomplished.

I also enjoy shopping at department stores because usually they are very reasonable in price. I do not have the money to spend on unique stores and

How To Find The Perfect Dancewear

If you are into dancing, you need the perfect dancewear. Dancewear is the term used to describe the clothing worn by dancers. Dancewear includes: tap shoes, slippers, pointed shoes, tights, leotards and unitards, tutus, legwarmers and cardigans. These are the perfect clothes to wear when dancing.

There are different types of dances and each requires certain types or dancewear. For example, in ballet you are going to need ballet shoes. A ballet shoe lets a ballerina dance freely. Ballet shoes have no hard cloth or rubber at all. This is important because a ballerina stands and tiptoes. Soft ballet shoes allow her feet to bend and stand pointed. Ballet shoes must fit properly and not be loose on the feet. Some steps require the ballerina to jump and make fast movements. If the shoes are not compact with her feet, she might fall or stumble.

In ballroom dancing, dancers use different dancewear. Ballroom dancers wear high-heels or stilettos to give impact to the dropping of their feet. It also gives an elegant impression and gives emphasis to the legs of the dancer. For the female, the perfect dancewear would be skirts which are not below the knee. Short

Adding A Personal Touch To Your Parties

Let’s get personal. That’s what many party planners are saying when they make plans to host one-of-a-kind parties such as a bridal shower, baby shower or even a Mother’s Day brunch.

Adding a personal touch may be easier than you imagine. Here are some ideas you can use:

• Make your centerpiece stand out. Don’t limit yourself to flowers. Centerpieces can consist of anything that fits into the theme of the event. For visual interest, you can use a large glass bowl with goldfish swimming in it. You can cluster candles or float votives in water. For a baby shower, you can build a pyramid of baby blocks.

• Create unique place cards that mean something to the guest of honor. For a bridal shower, attach name tags to a cookie cutter at each place setting. For a baby shower, order custom cookies in the shape of teddy bears with the person’s name iced on to them.

• Decorate with a theme. Start by deciding on the colors and the theme. Is your mom a gardener? If you’re planning on a brunch for Mother’s Day or her birthday, decorate the room with flowers cut out of construction

What Is The Value Of One Great Idea?

What is the value of one great idea on personal development? Priceless in my opinion. When I really look back at the things which have helped me with success and happiness, it really comes down to a few key ideas and concepts that just clicked at one point in my life. The funny thing is that a life changing concept for me will often be practically ignored when shared with another. Everyone is unique as to what concepts are most needed in their life, and their readiness to receive it. Each of us needs to find those ideas which are going to take us to the next level in our own personal development. And I believe there always is a next level.

I dont mean to diminish the importance of basic values, this is foundational to personal growth and happiness, and I believe having some spiritual beliefs is important here. But the key thing is that all these techniques such as affirmations, hypnosis, inspirational stories, motivational speeches, etc. only go so far. Real, substantial change only happens with a great idea which fundamentally changes the way you act and think. I dont just mean a nice idea, rather
